Bedrock & MCPE - Q&A

Here is a list of limitations of MCPE edition compared to Devorian Steampunk on Java.

● MCPE does not support custom models for the content, that’s already in game, which means:

○    no 3D rails

○    no fluffy trees

○    default UVs for trapdoors and fences

● MCPE’s maximum item resolution is 128x128 so packs with higher block resolutions (256x and 512x resolution packs) gets 128x128 items as well... this causes weird behavior for placeable items that uses extruded texture when equipped in hand

● MCPE does not support POM (parallax occlusion mapping)

● PBR shading (surface roughness and normal maps) is available only for hardware supporting RTX technology. On other devices this shading does not have any effect.

● MCPE does not support CTM and CTM overlays, so grass transitions and connected

blocks do not work.

● No custom UI. Maximum (and default at the same time) UI texture atlas resolution is 512, which is not enough for our HD UI redesign.

Devorian Steampunk for Bedrock has RTX enabled by default. If you wanna run it on hardware that does not support RTX, do the following:

● Rename the file Bedrock_DevorianSteampunk_version.mcpack to DevorianSteampunkBR_version.zip

● unzip the file

● open “manifest.json” that in the root folder

● delete following lines:

],

     "capabilities" : [

           "raytraced"

● save “manifest.json”

● select every file and folder in the root folder and zip it again

● Rename the file DevorianSteampunkBR_version.zip to

DevorianSteampunkBR_version.mcpack

● install the pack and enjoy the game :)
